First Timers

Storms River MouthDee one of our new guides returned from her first tour and this is what she had to share. This tour was a first in many ways not just for myself but also our amazing clients. Being my first tour of this kind and also the first time for any of our clients to be in Africa.

And that said being their first time seeing wild animals of Africa in their natural environment e.g. zebra, giraffe and “The Big 5” (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, elephant). This South African “Rainbow” tour started in Jozi (Johannesburg), going through the whole spectrum of “colour” by means of scenic landscapes and diversity of people, cultures and biomes and then ended in Cape Town with a bang! Some of our highlights on tour was seeing the elusive leopard on a night drive in the Kruger National Park. Finding this guy on the road and following him, crisscrossing paths a few times and having several opportunities to look him straight in the eye, which was an amazing experience. I was not sure what this guy was thinking with everyone on the game viewer taking pictures looking like a paparazzi gang. This carried on for a good 20 min until we left him in peace.

And then there was Bloukrans Bridge… the highest commercial bungee bridge in the world!! And we jumped off it !! It was nerve-wracking! The build up to the jump was so exciting and the guys at the jump were awesome by psyching us up and pumping the adrenalin to the max, not that it was needed because standing at the edge just before the jump was going against your entire grain of sanity! Your whole body is telling you this is a bad idea! …and then you jump as far forward as you can and the wind rushing forcefully on your face! And the feeling that then overwhelms you…AWESOMENESS!!!!!! The first thought going through your mind is “I want to do it again!”
