Greg having worked for Sunway for a while now got to guide his first Botswana Wildside BT14 and has this to say...
Recently I was lucky enough to guide on my first “Botswana Wildside” camping tour. This tour sees us doing a leg of five consecutive nights of “wild” camping through Moremi Game Reserve, the Savuti area of Chobe National Park and finally the last of the five nights camping on the Chobe River.
This tour is an absolute must for the wildlife enthusiast or just for someone who wants to experience wildlife at its absolute best. We managed to sight a pack of 13 wild dogs, leopard, many elephant, buffalo, numerous different antelope and of coarse on more than one occasion, the king of the jungle, Lion!!! My favourite experience of all though was seeing a lioness with two cubs. For me this was a first and it was something that I will remember for years to come. Stan our Botswana guide managed to get us in the best position for photos, and for that moment I became a tourist myself with my camera. Lionesses often give birth away from the pride and for about the first three months she will keep them in hiding, away from the pride. Lion cubs are also at risk of being killed by unrelated male lions due to the fact that they only want their own offspring to thrive. A great experience and something that myself and the clients will remember for a long time!!!!!
