Mother City Magic

Sunway South Africa cablecarOur Cape Town to Victoria Falls Grand Explorer 21 day safari is one of our most sought after itineraries. It starts in the most beautiful city in Africa, Cape Town. Here we spend a full day exploring the highlights of this magnificent city. On this particular tour we start off early from our guest house in the suburb of Sea Point...

This suburb is one of Cape Town's most affluent and densely populated areas, and is situated between Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean, just a few kilometres to the west of Cape Town's Central Business District. Our guest house is located only about 10 minutes away from the Sea Point Promenade, which is an absolutely amazing and lively place for people who enjoy a stroll or a jog whilst enjoying the fresh Atlantic air as well as a good view of the ocean and Cape Town harbour.

Driving from Sea Point we pass the upmarket suburbs of Clifton and Camps Bay. These suburbs are home to some of the most expensive houses in South Africa and Clifton Beach is favoured by photographers for photo shoots.

We stop in at Hout Bay for a short Seal Island cruise and view the Cape Fur seals from a boat, as well as enjoying the view of the Hout Bay harbour which is home to a large fleet of cray fishing boats. Onwards we go towards Table Mountain National park, taking one of the most impressive and breath-taking stretches of road in South Africa, Chapmans peak drive.

This road is cut into the side of the face of the mountain and this slow easy drive is enough to make your mind that you’re in the most beautiful city in the world.

Once we reach the national park, which is home to the cape floral kingdom, one of only 6 floral kingdoms found worldwide. Here we do a walk up to the Cape Point light house and look out over where the two oceans, Indian and Atlantic, meet each other.

The itinerary includes a beautiful walk from Cape Point to the Cape of Good Hope, the most south western point of the peninsula. Once we have finished with the national park, we take a drive to False Bay as it is not far from here and within this lovely bay nestles the quiet little town of Simonstown. Here, the headquarters of the South African Navy is situated among a street lined with beautiful old buildings - remnants of a bygone era. This is where Boulders Beach is located, home to a colony of African Penguins; yes, penguins that live in sunny South Africa, and are confined to Southern African waters. We view these penguins from a boardwalk and look out point and this makes sure that the penguins are not disturbed by the tourists, who would otherwise intrude on the breeding colony.

From here we head back to the main city and back to our guest house before heading out to dinner at a local Cape Town restaurant. This is just a tiny touch of what Cape Town has to offer and if you want to experience more then you need at least a week to explore the city voted most beautiful in the world...
