3 countries. 14 days. Relaxing beach and bush strolls. Exhilarating boat tours.
What else is there to wish for? Except maybe more days like these. This is our Mozambique & Kruger Beach and Bush MOa14.
Wouter and I (Nicole) have just returned from a diverse 2-week tour beginning in the culture rich homeland of the Zulu’s: KwaZulu-Natal. After 3 days of gaining fascinating societal insights and embarking on journeys through nature reserves (spotting rhinos with the biggest horns imaginable along the way) it was time to head into the warm waters of the Indian ocean at Kosi bay.
Following snorkelling in the species rich waters and our amusingly failed attempts at traditional fish catching, we did not even need to leave our camp in Swaziland to see the animals. Leisurely sitting in a deck chair we could observe how they all came to drink at the waterhole.
Next up we were greeted by the luxuries and fine dining experience ‘Hotel Cardoso’ had to offer us in Maputo; only to spend the succeeding three days in the waves, beach pool or beach bar at Barra. An ocean safari on a speed boat also gave us the chance to be a mere few meters from a whole humpback whale family.
Finally, we still took in the breath-taking views of the lagoon and beach in Bilene, before 2 more days of intense safari and ‘Big 5’ searches in the Kruger Park were commenced upon.
Special mentions must be made of Wouter’s cooking skills and the ever-enthusiastic singing of our tourists during the road trips.
Now what makes this tour more special is that we stay at both of teh Sunway Lodges being Zululand Lodge for teh first 3 evenings and then Makuwa safari Lodge on the last evening before heading back to Johannesburg.
