Limited Participation: An essential part of your safari is some participation. From carrying your own bag to packing the truck in the morning – it’s all part of your adventure. Where the tour leaders provide meals we ask that clients help (on rotation) with the washing up.
North Namibia will surprise you. West of Victoria Falls, wildlife thrives along Namibia's lush Caprivi Strip, you'll be astounded in Etosha, the country's largest national park, and discover Damaraland's petrified forests. Ready to turn up the heat? Turn South in search of desert elephants, and the world's biggest dunes at Sossusvlei, deep in the Namib Desert.
Day 1 - 2 LIVINGSTONE [chalet Bx1--]
[B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner]
Tour departure meeting at 14:00pm. Victoria Falls is one of the natural wonders of the world and we take 2 days to explore this area. Adventure activities abound, including sunset cruises, white water rafting on the mighty Zambezi, or an 111m bungi jump (own expense).
Day 3 – 4 CAPRIVI [chalet BLD]
Crossing out of Zambia into the Caprivi strip, we spend two days travelling west through this game rich area. We’ll explore the Kwando River by boat and a game drive into the Mahango Game Reserve.
Day 5 RUNDU [chalet BL-]
After a morning enjoying the abundant birdlife that surrounds the camp, our road takes us along the Kavango River. Villages of grass huts and local wooden crafts and carvings a common sight. We stop for the night at our riverside lodge in Rundu with a spectacular sunset.
Day 6 - 8 ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK [lodge BLD]
We head deeper into Namibia to the Etosha National Park. The National Park surrounds the Etosha Pan, and is locally named “the great white place of dry water”. Waterholes surround the pan and attract game, Etosha is known for great sightings of elephant, antelope and lions. Our lodge lies on the boundary of the park and we spend our mornings and afternoons on game drives.
Day 9 BRANDBERG [lodge BLD]
Our journey covers some beautiful desert landscapes as we move south towards the Brandberg Mountain. Our lodge is situated in the dry Ugab River which is home to the rare desert elephants. We visit the petrified forest, and take a walk with a local guide to view the famous White Lady rock painting in the area.
Day 10 – 11 SWAKOPMUND [hotel pension Bx2 Lx1 -]
We cross flat open plains to the coast where we visit the Cape Cross seal colony. Further south is the coastal town of Swakopmund where we have a day free to explore the town or try sea kayaking or dune boarding (own expense). German colonial influences are strong in the town of Swakopmund as reflected in the restaurant menus and the architecture.
Day 12 – 13 NAMIB DESERT [permanent tent BLD]
The lunar landscapes surround the town of Swakopmund and we visit these as we leave and head into the Namib Desert with its towering red sand dunes. We will walk to Sossusvlei, explore Sesriem Canyon and from the comfort of our lodge outside the national park watch a dramatic sunset over the world’s highest sand dunes.
Day 14 WINDHOEK [guest house BL-]
Windhoek is the capital and largest city in Namibia. Its charm lies in its harmonious blend of African and European cultures and the friendliness of its people and an interesting mix of modern and German colonial era influenced architecture. We arrive late in the day and enjoy a restaurant meal (own expense).
Day 15 WINDHOEK - TOUR ENDS [B--]
Tour ends after breakfast in the town of Windhoek. Transfers to Windhoek Airport available on request. Please contact the Sunway office at the time of booking to book your transfer.
This tour departs at 14:00 from the lodge in Livingstone, Zambia. Most flights into LVI (and VFA) arrive midday. We recommend that you fly into Livingstone airport (LVI) in Zambia on the day the tour starts. Flying into Victoria Falls airport (VFA) in Zimbabwe will require an additional visa (the Uni-visa applies for most nationals from the EU).
The tour ends at approximately 08:00 after breakfast at the overnight guesthouse in Windhoek, Namibia. You can therefore book your outbound flight from Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDK) for the last day of the tour. Windhoek airport is approximately 50km to the east of Windhoek city, so you will need to book an airport transfer with time to spare.
If you would like to book any pre-tour or post-tour accommodation, please indicate your required airport transfers and the number of nights required when you submit your enquiry below.

This safari starts in Livingstone, Zambia, which has an average temperature of 22.6°C which ranges lows of 15°C to mid thirties in summer. Summer rains fall in November to March. Moving through the Zambezi Region (Caprivi) you’ll experience similar climate before moving into the desert proper of Namibia.
The Namib desert landscapes form a magnificent backdrop for a spectacular safari. Lying on the Tropic of Capricorn, and flanked by the cold Atlantic Ocean, Namibia has a desert climate for the most part and there can be large differences in day and night temperatures, low rainfall and overall low humidity.
June:– The nights are colder and can drop below 10°C/50°F. In desert areas, it can be freezing. Days are still pleasant around 20-24°C/68-75°F with clear blue skies.
July & August:– Winter morning game drives can be cold at an average minimum of 7°C/45°F, so dress in layers with a windproof jacket and beanie. The average daily temperature reaches 21-25°C/70-77°F but can fall to below freezing at night in the deserts and higher altitude areas.
September & October:– Spring is lovely. It isn't too hot, but the mornings are less chilly. The skies are clear and during October the green vegetation is fading as the heat builds up. October can be extremely hot.
Green season is from November to April: Photography is amazing at this time, with wonderful light, dramatic lightning, and thunders storm cloud formations. Wildlife revels in the bounty of summer and life is good.
November:– By now it is hot, but with the humidity still low, it is pleasant. On average, the days are above 30°C/86°F, but it can be a lot higher in the desert.
December:– The first rains arrive and the temperature drops. The landscape changes after the first rains and everything comes to life. For the lucky you might experience the rare phenomenon of rain in the Namib Desert.
January & February:– Tends to be hot and humid with temperatures around 30-35°C/86-95°F and over 40°C/104°F in the desert. There may be downpours in the afternoon but not every day. Mornings are usually clear.
March & April:– Rainfall stops around April. It cools down and the nights start to get cold. Average day temperatures are around 25-30°C/77-86°F.

The tour from Zambia/Namibia was an absolute dream and I can really can only recommend it! If you have any contact with sunway you are welcome to pass this on, it was absolutely perfect and there is really nothing to complain about. The guides did such an incredibly great job - really great!
The guides' knowledge and experience really make this trip. The food was outstanding and the interacting just right.
Great guides, beautiful places.
The two guides were both outstanding! They really made the tour special.
Well led, huge variety of landscapes
I took the NBa15 tour in January/February 2017. I heard that we are the first Asian team for your company. But I have to say I very very like this journey and hope can go back to Africa soon!
Our tour guides are Zandre and Chris. Both of them have good problem solving and emergency handling abilities. The car's belt snapped when we were on the road, they reacted quickly to contact to the company and solved the problem. In addition, they are flexible to adjust the diet to our taste. We had good communication to understand different cultures. Their abilities to explain vividly and clearly, their friendly manners and enthusiasm, I really appreciated it. I spent so many unforgettable days with them that I was loath to part with them. Zandre has excellent driving skill; even on muddy or bumpy roads, he drove steady. He also is a good cooker. I enjoyed meals during the tour, especially the dinners. And he is witty, friendly and informal. Chris is amusing and easy going. His humor adds salt to our conversations. It was breezy and pleasant to be with him. He prepared the traditional African dinner for us I especially like Etosha National Park in our trip, 3 days is not enough for me. I hope can spend more days on safari. My second favorite spot is Namib Desert. Admiring the Desert, which stretched out as far as the eye could see, in early morning and meditating on myself was incredible! I also like Tarentaal Guest Farm very much. The room was warm and clean. The sky was clear and bright without a speck of cloud. The sky was spangled with stars. The stars are very bright. The calm, lone scene reassured me...
A whole series of memories started to well up....
Hope I can go to Africa again soon!!!!!😁😁😁
Best regards,
Ann Tseng
The wildlife was terrific both in Namibia and in Botswana. I had been to Etosha 10 years earlier but spotted considerably more in the 3 days we were there this time than I had done before. Highlights included seeing dozens of lions, including at kills, and a close sighting of a martial eagle. I very much enjoyed the Caprivi Strip and the lodges and game reserve there. I enjoyed all of the tented camps we visited in Namibia with Camp Kwando and Desert Camp at Sossusvlei my particular favourites. Botswana plugged the gaps that remained from the first tour; namely, terrific sightings of wild dogs (on two occasions we had very good sightings close to my favourite lodge of them all - Hyena Pan), leopards (which I had never seen close up before; we had good sightings of leopards on three occasions, including seeing one seemingly ambushed by elephants whilst on another occasion we saw one, very close up, at a kill). Another remarkable highlight was seeing a pair of bull elephants fighting in Chobe. That was pure theatre and felt like one of those once in a lifetime moments when you get a ringside seat at something rare and remarkable. The parks in Botswana lived up to my expectations. In particular, the Khwai Concession area and Chobe produced the best sightings although I imagine the terrific sightings could have been anywhere within the Moremi/ Chobe area owing to the welcome absence of fences. The Sunway guides were consistently excellent. They were hard working, always personable, and really made an effort to make the holiday a success. I cannot fault them. Overall it was a wonderful trip and I have many memories that will last a lifetime”Best regards

Hello, I'm Sandra and write from Italy. I enjoyed the tour in Zambia and Namibia in December/January 2014/15. I spent 15 beautiful days with guides Albert and Joanell and the other tourists. I would like to thank the guide Albert Muchena and your staff: during the flight connection Johannesburg-Livingstone my luggage was lost. You made the best to find it, to send it with a flight from Johannesburg to Windhoek. I received the bag 5 days later in Etosha National Park and it was a marvellous surprise!!!! Many thanks for your competence, help and courtesy!!!.Best regards
