A number of our tours visit Khama Rhino Sanctuary and it is a firm favourite with clients because of the amazing rhino sightings. Guide Chris Z tells us about his afternoon at the waterhole where they had an incredible experience.
We arrived at Khama Rhino Sanctuary in the afternoon and went straight to setup camp. We soon started our afternoon game drive and drove towards the waterhole where we expected to see some animals as the afternoon was lovely and warm.
On reaching the waterhole we saw two rhinos coming down to drink and immediately some giraffes came to the same watering hole too.
The light was good and people were busy with photos and then out of nowhere there were 16 rhinos drinking and performing various acts like mock fighting, charging each other and the young rolling themselves in the dust.
Zebras, gemsbok, impala and gnus also arrived to drink and soon the waterhole was filled up with different animals which seemed to tolerate each other as they shared the drinking together.
The sun was going down quickly and always providing the perfect ambience. The cameras were clicking nonstop and only stopped as the sun went down below the horizon. This was one of the best drives in the Khama Rhino Sanctuary in many years
