Our Botswana Wild Parks Safari is a must for anyone who loves the African wilderness. Recently, Yvonne Zulu, one of Sunway Safari's guides returned from this tour and shared this story with us...
So usually everyone talks of sightings seen whilst on tour, of the wildlife on game drives or game walks....well, our nice family of six plus two guides - Jeff and myself, Yvonne, were heading from Maun to Nata after having spent 2 nights in the Okavango Delta and 3 nights at Hyena Pan ( a private concession teaming with animal life ).
Anyhow we driving along the highway when just after Nxai Pan National Park entrance we spot a lone bull elephant munching away literary 2 metres from the road...I mean wait, huh?? We had spent the last 5 nights on the hunt for this amazing creature and poof here he was like he just jumped right in front of us.
Jeff slows the truck down, the sleepy clients in the red elephant are instantly aroused and come alive falling over themselves to grab cameras and get pics of one of Africa's Big 5 and the largest land mammal..It was a sight, he was massive without a care in the world. He'd had a sand bath so was the colour of the sand, he was a left handed beauty seen by the more worn out tusk on his left, the head was huge with tiny eye-lashed eyes...I mean he was a beautiful a handsome beast, and then he crossed one hind leg over the other and that just topped the photos what a pose, by the roadside !!
It doesn't end there, the truck starts up, we head to Nata...and see # 2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 15 and finally 20...not at once but during the stretch of 60kms we saw more elephants whilst on the main road than we had on the drives....Shucks, have I told you I love Africa ......?
