Botswana Camping at its best!

Natascha 1 smallNatascha one of our agents based in Kempton Germany recently did our Botswana Wild Side BT14 camping tour and had the following to share with us. Having lunch with the elephants, watching the sunset with the Hippos and fall asleep next to honey badgers and hyenas – if that is what you have ever wanted you should go on this tour. Botswana is just amazing. Being so close to the wildlife, seeing elephants wild and free, crossing the slow streams in the Okavango Delta while you are sitting next to them in a Mokoro – it’s just magical. Seeing zebras and giraffes peacefully in the bush, Lion cubs playing inside an almost eaten up buffalo and a leopard trying to eat a porcupine make you feel like you have just got into one of the beautiful BBC documentaries.

Our first safari was in the Khama Rhino Sanctuary in Botswana, where we saw some white rhinos. The black ones didn’t want to come out. After a stop in Maun we have spent two days in the Okavango Delta. We have been transported to an island by the locals called polers and their Mokoro’s (canoe) and spend some good days with swimming in the Delta, Bush Walks and traditional songs sung by the polers around the campfire. After another refreshing stop in Maun we moved on to Moremi.

Thanks to our awesome guide Kenny who made this happen. He tracked down two leopards by just seeing their tracks, knowing how old the tracks are, if it’s a male or female leopard. He knows everything about every kind of animal in the bush (even about the ants I guess) and he is always good for a laugh. He made it possible to see painted dogs and being surrounded by hyenas but always in a respectful manner. We have had wonderful time there.

Natascha 5 smallVictor, our main guide during the whole tour was really nice. He taught us a lot about the bush, about having high hopes to seeing animals (but no guarantees
