Adolf Venter has been a guide with Sunway Safaris since 2014, he originally started guiding at a lodge but wanted to see and experience more of Southern Africa. Sunway Safaris provides a great platform to do this! Adolf has now seen so much of Southern Africa on a regular basis and enjoys it so much.
Adolf grew up in Rustenburg, a city in South Africa surrounded by nature and game reserves. Since a young age Adolf's father would take him on weekend trips to the family farm where they would walk for hours in the bush looking for animals. Adolf loves the JJa14 Walking South Africa tour and is one of Sunway's most experienced guide doing this trip.
Adolf enjoys the Drakensburg on these tours, and he remembers fondly seeing bearded vultures flying in the mountains, the best part was being so high(3000 meters above sea level) that they were actually looking down onto the vultures flying below. Seeing the bearded vultures is one thing but being able to watch them below you is a great experience.
Adolf also really enjoys going to Namibia, and when not doing the walking trips takes every opportunity to take these tours. Mainly on the CVa21 Cape to Vic Falls explorer and the NBa21 Namibia and Botswana Southern Circle.
During the lockdown and with not being able to guide trips, Adolf went home to the family farm and is currently keeping himself busy with a small scale vegetable garden. At the moment he is growing mainly beetroot, spinach, potatoes, herbs, pumpkin, Brussel sprouts, broccoli and chillies. He is hoping he can sell some vegetables at the local farmers market.
The thing Adolf is most looking forward to is the freedom of touring around these beautiful countries, sitting around a fire at night and listening the the sounds!
