Wouter just having returned from his first Windhoek to Vic Falls Elephant Route WVac15 had some extra time to do a little exploring and had this to share. Exactly halfway between Windhoek and Sossusvlei, a drive of about 350 kilometres through rugged terrain, deserted desert plains and gravel roads, lies ‘Conny’s Rest stop & Coffee Shop’, located in a miniscule cattle herding settlement named Klein Aub. The only way one would know of its presence in this dry and almost uninhabited landscape is a small sign saying Conny’s Rest.
Grace having just completed a Namibia Botswana Southern Circle NBa21 had some amazing sightings. The NBa21 spends 3 nights at a lodge just outside of Etosha National Park in Namibia, this means that we get to spend 2 full days in this incredible place. Etosha is like no other park, it has vast open flat spaces shimmering with white and green. It is a 120 km long and 55km wide and covers 22 270 km². Etosha is home to the world’s biggest black rhino population, which occur mainly in the west but in 1995 some white rhino were reintroduced into the park after they became locally extinct during the early 1990’s. Other rare species of mammals that you find are the black-faced impala, Damara dik-dik, red hartebeest and eland. It is magic and there is always something to marvel at.
This last Friday the 23 February the Sunway Safaris & Mask Expeditions office team had our year end Xmas party. Yes I know you are probably asking why Xmas in February? Well as you know we are running our scheduled departures throughout the year and our November and December departures in 2017 kept us from enjoying a year end function so February it was.
We started the first Walking South Africa JJa14 Hiking Trip for the year 2018 end of January, and what a trip it was! Lloyd and I (Natalie) were travelling with 11 clients from Germany and Holland and had a wonderful time in Balule / Greater Kruger National park where we saw a male Lion next to the vehicle and it got even better when he started to call the rest of the pride. It was very impressive to hear him roar 4 meters next to us!
