Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have any questions regarding your planned African Safari? The list below provides answers to many common questions we get asked with almost every tour.

Sunway Safaris does not supply bottled drinking water. There is however clean drinkable water throughout Southern Africa. Tap water in most places is good to drink, and you can always ask your guide for advice if unsure. Each safari truck has a 150ltr water tank, which can be used for drinking. For those who are concerned about the water it is possible to purchase bottled water at own expense.

From an environmental point of view, we ask each client to consider how many plastic bottles they throw away. We suggest you either bring a water bottle from home, or buy a 1.5 ltr bottle of water at the start of the tour. You can then refill that water bottle from the truck or from a tap. If every Sunway client bought one plastic bottle every day, we would use over 40,000 plastic bottles a year! So please help us by re-using your water bottle.

Sunway will provide three scrumptious meals per day, unless specified in the itinerary [B=breakfast, L=lunch, D=dinner], from lunch on the day of departure until breakfast on the last day of your tour. Good healthy meals make happy travelers. The tour leaders do all the shopping and meal planning for each group. They will always try to obtain fresh produce wherever possible. Each tour has 1 cool box / freezer for the meats and fresh produce only, and 1 cool box for drinks. Please be aware that, due to the diverse tastes of our clients, we are unable to accommodate individual food preferences on our group tours. The group shared meals we provide are subject to available produce, and in our sometimes remote destinations, the variety of ingredients is sometimes limited. However, we do take allergies, vegetarian and vegan dietary requirements into consideration to ensure everyone has suitable meal options. Please bring this to our attention at time of booking.

A rough idea of what meals can be expected:

Breakfast – Cereals and milk or bread/toast, jam and fruit with coffee and tea or the occasional cooked breakfast.

Lunch – Cheese, cold meats, fish, fruit, pasta salads and bread or rolls.

Dinner – Potjies (stews), braais (barbecue), stir fries, curries etc prepared on a wood fire or gas stove.

On several nights we visit local restaurants, which because of individual tastes will be an own expense meal.

Yes, Malaria prophylaxes are required on all of the safaris that we offer. Some trips, like the South Africa Scenic or Rainbow Route, are only in a Malaria area for 5 days, while others, such as the Zambia, Malawi & Mozambique Trade Route, travel through malaria areas for all 21 days. Your tour leader will advise you when you enter a malaria area, and when you exit a malaria area.

Do not be put off visiting Southern Africa because of malaria. Realistically most of Southern Africa is low risk area and if you use prophylaxis, use insect repellent and cover up at dusk with long shirt or trousers, the chances are very low that you would contract malaria. Of the thousands of clients that Sunway has carried since 1994 we know of only 1 case of a client contracting malaria, and only a handful of guides (and remember that the guides do not even use the tablets). Clients visiting Malawi and Mozambique should pay most attention to precautions as those two countries are warm and wetter, and therefore have higher incidence of malaria.

Please contact your local physician for latest information on malaria prophylaxis and what type of prophylaxis will be best suited for the area that you are visiting.

If you feel when you get home that you have flu like symptoms, headache, stiffness, nausea, fever, then it’s best to consult your doctor immediately. Remember that prophylaxis do mask the symptoms, so get checked out – and remember to tell your doctor that you’ve been to a malaria area. Malaria is easily treatable if detected early.

If you are joining a camping trip, the Sunway tents have mosquito netting on the windows and door. Mosquitoes spend the heat of the day in shaded areas, so please remember to keep the mosquito net on the door closed during the day too, so that mosquitoes do not enter your tent. At night, you can sleep with the tent window flaps open, and the door rolled up, but remember to keep the mosquito net zipped closed. This will keep out the little biting things (like mosquitos) and the big biting things (like lion and hyena).

On the accommodated safaris, if we visit a malaria area, or a place with mosquitoes, then the accommodation will have nets provided. In areas where there are low numbers of mosquitoes and/or no malaria, mosquito nets will not be provided. These include places such as Knysna, Hermanus, Cape Town, Swakopmund, Windhoek etc.

Memory cards and other photographic accessories will be available several times on tour. A camera with a zoom lens from wide angle to telephoto, 35-200mm, is advisable to capture both scenic and wildlife shots. Each vehicle is fitted with a 12/24V cigarette lighter – this should not be relied on for charging camera batteries and we recommend you bring a 2nd battery. Remember you can also charge your camera on those nights we use accommodation (SA 220V)

If you are joining a camping trip, you will need to bring your own sleeping bag (and small camp pillow) and a towel. Should you not have, or do not want to buy a sleeping bag, you can rent a sleeping bag and camp pillow from the Sunway office for Euro 1 per sleeping bag per day on tour. Please book this at the time of booking.

On most of the Accommodated Adventures & Classic Journeys, all bedding is provided, and you will not be required to bring a sleeping bag or pillow. At most accommodation establishments, towels will be provided, but it is always a good idea to bring a small travel towel for the beach or swimming pool. If you are traveling on a tour that visits the Okavango Delta please make sure to bring a small towel with you as there are no towels supplied. Please make sure to double check your detailed tour itinerary for more information.

Due to space and weight limitations within each safari vehicle, luggage should be kept to a maximum of 12kgs per person (excluding camera equipment / day bag). The bag should be of a soft sided duffel bag / back pack design – no hard cases or hard sided bags will be accepted. While many people feel that they will need their full quota of 20kgs, people quickly realise that they have packed far too much.

Yes, Mastercard and Visa credit cards and debit cards are widely accepted throughout Southern Africa. American Express is not widely used in Southern Africa.

You’ll be able to use credit card to pay for most restaurant meals, and at most formal shops.  Optional activities in Cape Town, Swakopmund, Maun, Livingstone and Victoria Falls can also be paid by credit card. More specific details available in the downloadable Sunway general information dossier.

Sunway includes all activities in the safari, as detailed in the itinerary. You will therefore not be spending lots of money on additional excursions like game drives, national park fees, bush walks etc – those are included as per your itinerary. There are on some routes, opportunities to do additional own expense activities, such as helicopter flights, white water rafting or canoeing etc – please refer to the optional activities page for wages (right hand menu).

You will need some cash to purchase snacks, drinks, perhaps local curios, and some restaurant meals. For meal expenses you should count the number of lunches and dinners not included in the specific itinerary and then work on about US$15 to US$25 for a sit down restaurant dinner (including a glass of wine or a beer), about US$6 to US$12 for a light lunch or take away. (local currency will be required, but as an indication we’ve shown US$). In most restaurants you will be able to pay buy credit card – Mastercard and Visa are widely accepted, but Diners Club is not.

Bottled water is approximately US$1.50 per liter and a can of beer or coke is roughly US$2.00.

If you budget on +/-US$ 25 per day, you will have ample cash available for out of pocket expenses. Please bear in mind that this daily budget, does not include the expenses of optional activities such as white water rafting, shark cage diving or helicopter flights etc. The prices for these optional extras can be found on our downloadable detailed tour dossier.

Tipping is often a major issue for clients, especially when it comes to tipping the guides that we sometimes use for various activities (e.g. game walks, polers in the Okavango Delta etc). Clients sometimes find it difficult to get a realistic value of the local currency and what it is worth in the local economy. We suggest that a tip of 1-3€ per client per ½ day activity, or the local currency equivalent, is acceptable.

Your two Sunway tour leaders also work extremely hard to ensure that your safari runs smoothly and that all the clients on tour are happy. They are more often than not in bed last and up first, do most of the cooking and also give as much information to the clients about the areas that are visited and of course flora and fauna. We suggest that a tip of 2–5€ per client per day per tour leader is reasonable. A general procedure for tipping the guides, is for the group to collect the guides tips, and place in 2 separate envelopes for each of the tour leaders.

As in all cases with tipping, the final decision of the amount tipped is up to the individual. It is up to you to decide if you thought the service was poor, or exceptional, and the amount tipped should reflect that. The amounts quoted above are guidelines for you to get an idea of what to tip.

Southern Africa, like all 3rd world regions, has its problems, but your tour leader knows all of the areas intimately and will endeavour to show you all of the highlights while always taking your safety into account. Sunway plans the itineraries to visit interesting places, while not placing clients in harms way.

Like all practical advice about safety, be aware of your surroundings but not paranoid. As you would anywhere in the world, don’t leave valuables such as wallet and cameras unattended or in plain view. IE: don’t leave your camera on a restaurant table while you dash to the loo, or leave your wallet on the bed in your room while you’re not there. The temptation for cleaning staff may be too much.

Please also bear in mind that the people in many of the places you will visit are living in difficult and sometimes poor conditions. To them the possessions you have are signs of your relative wealth, and therefore please be sensitive to their position. Don’t create that temptation in their mind by “flaunting” your valuables.

When entering a wilderness area your tour leader will give you a full safely briefing. If you follow the simple rules while in wilderness areas you will have nothing to worry about  when in close proximity to wild animals. On game drives keep quiet and don’t make any sudden movements. On game walks walk in a single file, keep quiet and listen to your guide’s instructions and you will enjoy and amazing wildlife experience. When staying in un-fenced campsites do not wander off alone, always make sure that you are aware of your surroundings.

Follow your guide’s instructions and you’ll have a great time.

Yes, all clients travelling on a Sunway safari are required to have their own comprehensive travel insurance. The travel insurances needs to cover lost luggage, missed flights and most importantly comprehensive medical cover in the un-likely event of you being injured while on safari.

Please note that while most credit card companies offer travel insurance if you have bought your airline ticket on your credit card, we have found that cover is not sufficient for adventure travel in Africa. We strongly recommend you buy additional specific travel insurance. You need to buy this insurance in your home country, before you travel and your local Sunway travel agent can assist you with this.

The minimum age for our guests is 12 years old, although we do occasionally make exceptions depending on the specific itinerary, the group make-up and sometimes during our low season. Please note that a child of 12-17 years will only be accepted for travel with an accompanying adult.

On some of our safaris we camp wild in remote areas and these campsites are not fenced, so it is possible for wild animals do enter the campsite. It is important that parents make sure that the children listen and follow the guide’s safety instructions. Parents are also required to supervise their children at all times so as not to affect the enjoyment of the tour for any other clients.

We, as Sunway, do not believe that age should be a determining factor on the enjoyment of life! Therefore we do not have an upper age limit.

But clients who are older than 65yrs are required to submit a medical self declarations letter or doctor’s report stating that they are fit and healthy and that they will be able to undertake a safari that includes a moderate level of physical activity, some long driving days and some moderate full day walks. This is not an onerus document, but rather an indication that the client is aware of the style of tour that they will be joining, and capable of participating in all activities on tour. We’ve found that we have many fit and healthy clients who are over 65 years of age, join Sunway trips, and put the younger clients to shame on the mountain walks!

There is a 5% discount available to repeat clients, so if you have travelled with Sunway before and are considering another Sunway safari, remember to tell your original booking agent when you book again.

I’m really happy to share some feedback about our safari through Namibia and Botswana, which was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. We travelled with Sunway Safaris, and I can honestly say it was one of the best-organized and most enjoyable trips I’ve ever done. Our guides, Steven and Allen, were exceptional in every way. They worked together seamlessly — Steven was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and the environment, always had a clear and well-structured plan for each day, and explained everything in detail so we always knew what to expect. His professionalism, organization, and genuine care made the trip feel effortless and very special. I would give him a five-star rating as a tour guide — he’s truly outstanding and you can tell he has a lot of experience. Allen was also amazing — an excellent driver who handled even the toughest roads with complete calm and confidence. We had some challenging stretches with deep sand and rough terrain, and he navigated everything perfectly while always keeping everyone safe and comfortable. I’d recommend him to anyone without hesitation. The food on this trip was another highlight. Honestly, it was the best we had anywhere — even better than the restaurants we visited along the way. Our guides put so much effort into every meal, and the quality was outstanding. We had two vegetarians and one gluten-free eater in our group, and they accommodated everyone perfectly — no one ever felt limited. The tents were in great condition, and most of the campsites were wonderful — scenic, clean, and well maintained. The only exception was the Kalahari campsite, where the bathrooms didn’t quite meet expectations, and it was surprising to see agricultural fields reaching right up to the camp, despite it being described as “in the middle of the Kalahari.” Apart from that, everything else was excellent. We also stayed at a hotel in Swakopmund, which I can really recommend. The staff were absolutely wonderful — very personal and attentive. They took great care of us and even offered relaxing massage options, which were such a treat in the middle of the trip. The itinerary itself offered an amazing variety of experiences: from game drives and peaceful time at the waterholes in Etosha National Park, to exploring the desert landscapes of Namibia, and then on to the lush waterways of Botswana. One of the most special highlights for all of us was the boat excursions in Chobe National Park, where the electric boats allowed us to get close to the wildlife in complete quiet — a magical and unforgettable experience. Throughout the journey, Steven and Allen made sure we were well cared for. They remembered if someone wanted to see a specific animal and would stop when they spotted it later. They also ensured we had regular stops for shopping or the pharmacy if needed. None of us got sick during the trip, which says a lot about how well everything was planned and managed. In summary, I can say with full sincerity that I absolutely loved this trip. The whole group was extremely happy, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Sunway Safaris, this Namibia–Botswana route, and especially Steven and Allen as guides. It was an adventure filled with care, expertise, and unforgettable moments.

The whole trip was incredible but the Namibian landscape, particularly Spitzkopf was one of the highlights. This is a trip of a lifetime made all the more real by camping. There are memories I will carry with me for the rest of life. It will stand out as one of the most amazing times I’ve experienced

Unforgettable Camping Safari – Exceptionally Organized, Authentic, and with Outstanding Guides I joined the Namibia-Botswana camping safari in July 2025, and it was one of the most impressive travel experiences I’ve ever had. The travel days are long, but in return, you get to experience the incredible diversity of both countries in the best possible way – without having to drive yourself. The activities and highlights are perfectly chosen and harmoniously coordinated by Sunway Safaris. Every day brings a new highlight and unforgettable photo opportunities. This tour is ideal for those who are truly ready to embrace real encounters with nature, experience the heart of Africa, and enjoy the simple yet intense rhythm of life on a camping safari. What made this journey truly exceptional was the outstanding work of our guides, Lloyd and Malinga from Sunway Safaris. With genuine enthusiasm, deep expertise, and remarkable organization, they shaped this experience in every way. Each day was well thought out, structured, and at the same time felt personal – with a wonderful sensitivity to the group’s needs. Lloyd and Malinga made a great team: always well-prepared, dedicated, and passionate. Their love for the land, the wildlife, and the culture was evident in every explanation, every encounter, and every shared moment. We saw an incredible number of animals, often up close – always with the utmost respect. The guides placed great importance on animal welfare and nature conservation, which made every encounter even more meaningful. What also impressed me: Even after long drives or challenging stages, Lloyd and Malinga remained cheerful, attentive, full of energy, and up for a laugh. They worked with great professionalism and ensured, through their positive energy and attention to detail, that every participant felt welcome, safe, and fully taken care of. The food was excellent, too – varied, freshly prepared, and a great mix of local flavors and familiar European touches – even under the simplest conditions. It’s important to know: This style of travel is intentionally simple. You sleep in tents, live in and with nature, and experience Africa in a direct, unfiltered way. For those who are open to it, the reward is a journey rich in unique impressions – more intense, more real, and more moving than any classic package tour. Lloyd and Malinga gave us three weeks of our lives where everything felt vivid and meaningful – full of laughter, wonder, learning, connection, and joy. Time that felt real, valuable, and transformative – changing perspectives and leaving a lasting impression. Thank you for being not only outstanding guides but also extraordinary human beings. This trip wasn’t just a journey – it was a gift.

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? The Thebe River cruise on the last night was my highlight but there were so many it is hard to choose. Each day brought a different experience. My son enjoyed the nights sitting around the campfire. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday? Have a spirit of adventure, be prepared to muck in and accept that you won’t always have access to wi fi or hot water. There are a few tiring day but make the most of them as you only pass this way once. As our driver, cook and guide Maxwell kept reminding us you can sleep when you get home. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation? On 3/4 occasions we had activities that benefited local people and others where we used local guides. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall? A really enjoyable adventure. I travelled with my adult son and daughter and there was a good mixture of ages (18 to 74), nationalities and personalities that would never have come together otherwise. The scenery and wildlife were amazing but the holiday was also made by our guides and the people we travelled with.

Dear Sunway Team. Although our review is a bit delayed, we would like to sincerely thank you for the fascinating tour through Namibia and Botswana. Every day of this journey was a highlight, and the carefully selected attractions left us in awe. We often think back fondly on this unforgettable tour. A large part of our positive experience is due to our two tour guides, Marcus and Moffat. They always went above and beyond to accommodate everyone’s needs, especially when it came to the diverse dietary requirements (vegan, gluten-free, etc.). They handled this challenge with great skill and success! The cooperation between the guides and our group was simply outstanding – a well-coordinated team that was always supportive and helpful. We were particularly impressed by the patience and professionalism of the guides in dealing with a fellow traveler who had different expectations for the tour, which created some challenges. Despite the difficult situation, Marcus and Moffat remained consistently friendly and understanding, which we greatly appreciated. Once again, many thanks to Marcus and Moffat for this unique experience! We highly recommend this tour.

Life changing experience. I started at Victoria Falls and travelled through Botswana and Namibia, camping for most of 21 nights. I was a bit apprehensive as my trip had been delayed 3 years, but Bruce and Grace’s communication was helpful, friendly and positive and made me feel happy.
The trip itself was magnificent, it surpassed any expectations I had. My guides, Patrick and Moses were knowledgeable, humorous, hard working and catered meals to a high standard. I was well briefed each day about the itinerary, what to expect and lists of highlights. Geography, political and social information as well as superb information about the wildlife was constant and I gained such insights. I was comfortable in my tent and in the van – P and M always made sure to check I was okay.
I really felt like I saw what was special, the itinerary was well set. I left Livingstone and Africa feeling like I left home, with a love that grew because my experience was so enriching. I can’t thank Sunways, Patrick and Moses enough for the experience of a lifetime. My tour was NB21 and I would do it all again – though I have been told of the Malawi Mozambique tour and am saving my pennies.
Emma & Peter
We really enjoyed our trip. It would be too hard to highlight any one part of the journey- we did so much! But yes we got to hear lions, elephants, and hippos from our tents at night, do safari drives, climb dunes, see some amazing sunsets and sunrises, and most importantly experience different cultures.
Lisa
I have been on many trips all over the world and I feel that this trip is probably the most memorable. Everything on our NB21 camping safari was amazing. So many incredible experiences, it is hard to pick one. Also all of the people on the trip were so wonderful especially our guides Ali and Sipho.
McMeechan
This is a fantastic trip due to the variety of experiences that are included. Some very long days, but all very worthwhile. The “optional” activities such as Zambezi river canoeing, quad biking on the Namib sand dunes and Okavango delta flight were also very worthwhile. The rich diversity of wildlife was amazing: we observed more than 100 species of bird, 30 species of mammal and many reptiles and amphibians- only Leopard was too elusive for all the ‘big five’, but 4/5 isn’t bad! Highly recommended trip. Really good leaders: knowledgeable, patient, hard-working and enthusiastic for the wildlife/environment of these fantastic countries..
Lauren
We both had a great trip. We got to see a range of wildlife and it was amazing how close we got to some of the animals (but not dangerously close). We also got to see a variety of landscapes ranging from the dry desert to a bit more greenery in Botswana. A few highlights: 1) the watering holes right next to the campgrounds in Etosha National Park – one evening one was particularly active with animals and again, you’re so close to the animals. 2) the nauklauft National Park climbing the dunes for sunrise and seeing Dead vlei 3) the local people we got to spend some time with from the polers in the Okavango Delta and doing a local bushman walk. Sunway Safaris was great. It seems we got lucky with selecting one of the better companies, even our guides said that if they were to look for another guiding job they would be well respected in the industry given that they had worked at Sunway. When I was researching tours, having a company that could cater for Brendan’s dietary requirements (vegetarian and with strictly no cross contamination with cooking utensils etc) some companies came back to me saying that it would just be too hard to cater for him. Even when you told me that this company could cater for this, we were both still really nervous that dishes may get contaminated with meat (so he took lots of museli bars in case) and that they food for him would just be plain and boring. We were both really impressed with how our guides, particularly Farai the main cook, made sure he had great vegetarian food to eat. – Lauren Smith, New Zealand
Claire Smart
I travel a lot but this is the most memorable, amazing, life changing experience I have ever had. I honestly cannot find a single fault with the way Sunways managed this incredible trip. The locations and experiences were just awesome, the guides were truly wonderful, the people we met were just lovely, the food was delicious. The thrill and excitement of hearing hippos honking in the creek all night outside your tent, falling asleep in marvelous desert landscapes below a million stars, watching the sun rise over the highest sand dunes in the world, cruising, driving and even walking past families of elephants, crocs, zebra, giraffe etc, whilst eagles circle overhead… I really don’t have words to describe how it felt. A five star rating isn’t nearly enough for this holiday/adventure. Thank you so much Sunways – Brian and Carina – you are simply amazing
Laura Cesaretti (Italy)

Absolutely reccomended. The camping tour covered Zambia, Botswana and Namibia in three weeks, from August 26 2017 to September 16th, with a small group of 12. It was a unique, wonderful experience, really unforgettable. It is not a restful vacation, nor it is a trip for lazy people who need to be pampered from morning till night. But it will give you tons of lifetime memories, you will discover places and meet people and make experiences that no other kind of trip can offer. – Laura Cesaretti, Italy

Emily Woolford (NZ)
Good day, I just wanted to mail you and let you know that the holiday with Sunway Safaris was amazing. It was great being a smaller group (most others we saw were 20+ people), the guides were great and always made delicious food and everything was very comfy and easy. It was good doing the camping option too as we often stayed right in the middle of everything that was happening whereas sometimes the accommodated version had to travel further to stay outside of the park or area we were in. – Emily Woolford, New Zealand
Neno Loje (Germany)
The two-week safari from Livingstone to Namibia was awesome. After the first week, all our expectations had been met already. We had seen the “Big 5” and were accompanied by the possibly best two guides we could have wished for. They [Shadreck and Iton] were very knowledgeable, funny, caring, supportive, warm-hearted, inspiring and cared about every possible detail to make our trip enjoyable. We can highly recommend Sunway Safaris. – Neno Loje – Germany
William Probst (UK)
We thoroughly enjoyed our 21 day Camping Safari tour. It was testing at times but we coped well, especially as I am 77 and my wife 74. I will certainly be speaking favorably about the trip to my friends although I doubt if any around my age group would be interested. I will probably be informing them about the very similar “accommodated” tour. We have done a lot of world travel, rarely camping, but this tour is among the best as far as we are concerned. It was an experience not just a sightseeing holiday: Our guides Phumi and Tawanda represented Sunway very well indeed and Phumi was outstanding. There were many highlights, one being the 2 night bush camp in the Okavango Delta. At the time some in the group seemed to think that it was “a bit too basic” but my wife and I, and probably the others too, believe it to be a wonderful experience that we cherish! – William Probst – UK
Anne Leinweber (Germany)
Only positive things: well organised and thought through, great amount of information and discussions I learned so much about nature and culture. I felt safe the whole time, you choose companies of high quality to work with (village visit, boat cruise, polers in the delta). Amazing People!!!! – Anne Leinweber – Germany

Hi, we’ve returned from our Desert and Delta safari and I want to thank Sunway for this most wonderful experience. Everything was perfect – the itinerary was great, I saw so many things – a lot of them weren’t even expected. The nature, the different camps (each one even more beautiful than the last…), the possibilities we had … What I liked most was the variety of experiences we had throughout the 3 weeks. The different landscapes, the animals, the nature / wilderness, the encounters with people, activities, …. (but to talk about all the amazing and exciting things we saw and experienced would definitely go beyond the scope!) I wasn’t too keen on cities but even they offered rewarding experiences. E.g. At first I didn’t like Swakopmund very much – it was too much German colony (not only the style but also the people) but we made the township tour and had contact to the people living there which was great – so the impression didn’t stay single-sided. We learned a lot about the different cultures, about the history, the nature, how to live in different environments – we saw much more than I could have wished for, we experienced wonderful people and we met not only a detailed and elaborated itinerary – we also met Africa along the way. That leads me to our guides – I really feel the need to praise them! Jeff and Edwin were wonderful – the best guides we could have wished for. They explained everything to us – they answered all our questions (and sometimes even looked up more details), they were always friendly, funny, helpful, caring, patient. We met other groups and other guides and noticed that their way to deal with difficulties often was much less friendly and effective. Our guides ignored other groups when they started trouble like who is allowed to use a certain spot in the camp and anyway had the best result for our group. They cooked the best meals – in the middle of nowhere – like in the most beautiful places in nature – we had delicious meals you could not have better in any restaurant. (so I did not only learn a lot about nature and Africa but also improved my cooking skills…) Jeff and Edwin were the perfect team. For us they were not only most qualified guides, they were friends that showed us a new world. It was not only a holiday – it was (as Jeff always said) an adventure – it was a dream come true, an unforgettable experience. I’m sure we will come back! – Annika & Jürgen Rieber – Germany

It was an excellent introduction to the two amazing countries. It gave a good idea of what to comback to and do more slowly and in more depth.

I enjoyed all the time very much. I never felt bored. I will keep this experience in my mind all the time.

Thank you very much for taking good care of the whole group! I really enjoyed these last 21 days in Africa. I really enjoyed this 21 days in Africa. It was a new and exciting experience for me and i am sure I’ll never forget about it. Right now we’re already travelling back home to Holland. I will have a lot of stories to tell back home to friends and family, and i will do that with great joy and some nice memories in my heart. Thank you very much once again and we’ll have a drink to this really really wonderful and super fantastic holiday. i wish you guys the best.
Iris-Alice Klinke (Germany)
Dear Sunway Safaris, I participated at the group tour of “Desert & Delta” from 8th of July to the 28th of July 2012. It was a brilliant and extraordinary trip. I am sure that the country itself had a big part in that wonderful experience. What I want to mention is, that the tour guide Jefias (Jeff) Munkuli did an unbelievably good job!!!! He cared for every single detail, had a huge talent in organizing things, followed all our wishes of a photo stop, however, never forget about the itinerary, helped out building up the tents (if we had some problems) even if he had other important things to do. So he cloned himself almost! What he could cook over the fire was amazing. We loved it all! Sometimes we even had four courses – and that in a camp! His knowledge about history, animals and plants was very helpful in understanding the country and its people. He pointed out plants, which we wouldn’t have noticed without his hints. He knew the best stops, times to look out for animals. Perfect timing! The driver team (with Jacob) did an incredible job – more then 4000km – and I felt ALWAYS safe and carefully driven as a big portion of eggs 😉 I liked as well, that he tried to include people from the country on our trip (village tours, singing, dancing…). That gave them the possibility to participate in the tour and for us it was an even more intense experience. Full of energy and always a smile on his face – you could tell –that he loves to be outside in the nature and together with people. Even after the 1010th question from us customers he was patient and had a smile for us. I can’t imagine of a guide who could fulfill his job any better. I hope you are running a gratitude system and he will get a big extra portion!! Even if I don’t know the other guides, I am sure he is the best! With best regards, Iris-Alice Klinke from Berlin, Germany

Hi all, I just want to say thanks to Sunway Safaris for organizing a great tour (Namibia Botswana Desert and Delta). Special thanks to our tourguides Jefias Munkuli and Chris Pindani. They really did an amazing job, and in my opinion these two guys form a perfect team together. Although both different types – but complementary to each other, never arguing, always happy with one another. Both very good cooks and drivers, always helpful and in a good mood, even after 3 flat tyres! Thanks again, and hopefully: tot ziens! Warm regards, Thea Roolfs Utrecht/Netherlands

Good morning!! I just write to let you know that I’ve got the feed back from my client, Jaume Blasco, travelling on your departure 110821NB21. He says that everything regarding this trip was perfect: the itinerary, the organitzation & planification, the people (sunway team and travellers),… So, once again thank you 🙂 I attach a nice picture from him. Regards from Barcelona! Mercè Gayà

Hi Bruce, First of all, I just wanted to let you know that we had the most WONDERFUL time on our trip to Africa!! It was absolutely amazing and I would go back in a heartbeat. Except for the jetlag on the way back. Don’t want to do that again anytime soon. I have a question for you that I hope you can help with… while we were in the Okavonga Delta doing the “wild camping” bit, I took some photos of the mokoro polers and guides which I promised to send to them. One of the guys (named Patrick) gave me a P.O. Box address on a slip of paper and I have lost it!! I’ll feel terrible if I am unable to get the photos to them. The lead guide’s name was Kaiser. In fact, I’ll attach a photo of all of them if that helps. They were paid by Sunway when we returned, and I believe all live in the the nearby village. If it’s easier, I could send the photos to Sunway and perhaps they can be delivered on an upcoming trip. Thanks again for a great adventure!

Hello everyone, We wish all of you at Sunways a good and peaceful new year 2011. During the free time between Christmas and New Year we had time to finish the sorting of our photographs and to remember the great time we had in Africa last year. In september we did the Namibia Botswana Desert and Delta Tour with Albert and Wayne and we want once again say thank you very much to these two guys who made the trip unforgettable. It was our first time to go to Africa and we were totally impressed of all the different countrysides, the wildlife, the wilderness (which we Europeans don’t know any more) and the people there. Albert and Wayne were the best guides we could imagine for our adventure, they did a perfect job to show us Southern Africa from its best side. They knew quite everything about history, politics, geography, the wildlife and about the behavior in the wilderness… and not to forget, they are excellent cookers – we will never forget the delicious “Drunken Chicken” in Etosha or the Desert Lasagne! Even when we had 6 punctures in one day, they managed the situation bravery! We wish all the best to them and hope that they will go on showing people Africa as they did to us – as friends! We are sure that we will come back to Africa!
