Optional Activities

Optional activities are available on selected Sunway Safaris itineraries across Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. These experiences complement scheduled safari travel and are booked locally where available.

Activities may include scenic flights over the Okavango Delta, marine wildlife experiences in Mozambique, desert and coastal activities in Namibia, cultural and historical tours in South Africa, and adventure activities at Victoria Falls.

Availability depends on itinerary routing, seasonality and local conditions. Some activities require minimum stay durations or extensions. Most optional activities can be paid for with Visa or Mastercard credit cards, particularly in Victoria Falls, Maun and Swakopmund. Prices are indicative only and may change without notice.

General

Some meals are not included on selected itineraries and are clearly indicated in the tour itinerary.

Where meals are not included, typical costs are approximately USD 10 to 25 for lunch and USD 15 to 25 for dinner, depending on location and meal choice.

Soft and alcoholic drinks are not included on most itineraries unless specifically stated. They are available for purchase at lodges, camps and restaurants along the route.

Typical prices are approximately USD 3 for alcohol and USD 2 for soft drinks. Prices may vary depending on location.

Most establishments accept Visa or Mastercard, although cash is useful in more remote areas.

Botswana

Scenic fixed wing flights over the Okavango Delta provide aerial views of winding channels, lagoons and seasonal floodplains. Wildlife sightings may include elephants, hippos and antelope from above. Departures are from Maun on selected itineraries.

Low level helicopter flights over the Okavango Delta offer close aerial perspectives of waterways, wildlife and remote floodplains. These flights operate from the border of the Okavango Delta, Maun or Guma Lagoon Lodge depending on itinerary routing.

Mozambique

Scuba diving in Mozambique offers access to coral reefs and Indian Ocean marine life. Common dive areas include reef systems with tropical fish and seasonal pelagic species. Available from Ponto do Ouro and Inhambane.

Snorkelling in Mozambique provides access to shallow reef environments with tropical fish and coral formations. Locations include Ponto do Ouro, Chizavane, Inhambane and Vilankulos depending on itinerary.

Ocean safaris are boat based excursions focused on marine wildlife observation. Sightings may include dolphins, whales and whale sharks depending on season. Available from Inhambane.

Namibia

Dune boarding takes place on large sand dunes near Swakopmund. This activity involves descending desert dunes on a board in a controlled environment. Available on itineraries with a two night stay in Swakopmund.

Scenic flights from Swakopmund provide aerial views of the Skeleton Coast, desert dunes and shipwreck sites along the Atlantic coastline. Available on itineraries with a two night stay in Swakopmund.

South Africa

A Soweto tour explores key cultural and historical sites linked to South Africa’s urban history and apartheid era. Available on arrival in Johannesburg or post tour extensions.

Night game drives in Kruger National Park offer opportunities to observe nocturnal wildlife species active after dark. Available on most itineraries that visit Kruger National Park.

Ocean safaris along the Plettenberg Bay coastline focus on marine wildlife such as dolphins and seasonal whale sightings. Available on the South Africa Rainbow Route.

The Table Mountain cable car provides access to summit viewpoints overlooking Cape Town, the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding landscapes. Available during the South Africa Rainbow Route or pre and post tour stays.

Coastal cruises around Cape Town offer harbour and sunset experiences. Robben Island visits are available as a historical site excursion on selected itineraries. Available during the South Africa Rainbow Route or pre and post tour stays.

Shark cage diving in Gansbaai is a guided marine experience offering close observation of great white sharks in a controlled environment. Requires transfer from Hermanus with return to Cape Town.

Zambia / Zimbabwe

Sunset cruises on the Zambezi River offer relaxed boat based viewing of wildlife and river scenery at dusk. Available on all itineraries visiting Victoria Falls.

Helicopter flights over Victoria Falls provide aerial views of the waterfall system and surrounding gorges. Known as the Flight of Angels experience. Available on itineraries visiting Victoria Falls.

Game drives take place in multiple national parks including Zambezi National Park from Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park from Kasane and Hwange National Park. Night drives are available in select locations.

White water rafting on the Zambezi River takes place through a series of graded rapids in Batoka Gorge. Conditions vary seasonally, with highest water levels typically between January and March when some sections may close, and lower water periods from August to December.

Bungee jumping from Victoria Falls Bridge offers a controlled jump over the Zambezi Gorge between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Available on itineraries visiting Victoria Falls.

Canoeing on the Zambezi River takes place in calmer sections above Victoria Falls, allowing wildlife viewing along the riverbanks. Requires a two night stay in Victoria Falls.
