A few days in the life of a safari guide...

Sunway Kalunga Blog4

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be on the 'other' side on safari and part of the guiding team as opposed to being a client? Kalunga, as a Sunway guide, writes about his experiences on tour and what it means to be a guide when starting off on each new safari...

As you may have learned from his bio on 'Our Guides', he loves guiding for Sunway because he gets to see different countries and he loves sharing this with the clients that join him. When home in Zambia, Kalunga plays in his local football team and supports Arsenal and his national team, the Chipolopo's who recently won the Africa Cup of Nations.

Pre BTTE Agents Fam trip..

Delta walk.jpg smallAfter missing out on last year’s Pre BTTE Fam trip I (Dirk) was very excited to hear I would be leading the agents into Botswana for 4 days pre BTTE (Botswana Travel & Tourism Expo) that is held in Kasane Botswana. I arrived a day before to sort out all the shopping for the 2 days that I would have to cook in the Okavango Delta and Moremi Game reserve. On the day of the start of the trip I was taken into the Delta by Mokoro to set up camp (accommodated style) before the agents and Bruce arrived. Returning to the poling station I awaited the arrival of the agent that where flying in by helicopter. After the 3rd flight in we all set off in our mokoros to the chosen island with our camp already set up.
