Wouter was in Etosha National Park and had the following to share. The Etosha saltpan in northern Namibia is an area stretching 120 kilometers from west to east, and about 50 kilometers from north to south. It forms a big part and the main feature of the world famous Etosha National Park. The soil here is salty, and thus nothing grows here in an area covering almost 5000 square kilometers! Etosha meaning ‘Great white place’ ,this white salt is also what has given the park its name.
Adolf recently guided on our Walking South Africa JJa14 that visits the Drakensberg Mountains. This is his groups experience on the day they do the Tugela Gorge. The Drakensburg mountains have always lived up to its reputation of being one of the most untouched, beautiful places South Africa has to offer. One of our walks in the Drakensberg is called the Gorge Trail. This trail is a 12 km long round trip going along the side of the mountain, through waterways and into dense evergreen forests dominated by tall Yellow Wood trees and plants with edible fruits, not that it would fill you up of course.
