Nigel Hlongwane

My name is Nigel Hlongwane, I’m 35 years old. I was born and raised in the heart of Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife reserve. My father worked there over three decades as a Professional Safari Guide and watching him leading groups through the bush, sharing his deep knowledge of animal behaviour and the land, sparked my own passion for the wild from a very early age.

At my teenager age, I could identify the distinctive calls of a lion pride, track fresh enormous elephant footprints, and understand the subtle cues of these creatures. In 2014 I began my formal career as a Safari Guide, joining one of Hwange National Park based operator.

Over the six years I led diverse Sunway groups at Miombo Safari’s on their adventures. I honed my skills in wildlife identification, safety and storytelling, turning each game drive into an immersive narrative that left guests feeling connected to our mother nature. After the COVID 19 pandemic that temporarily halted tourism, I seized the opportunity to broaden my experience. I joined Sunway Safari, a leading operator with a reputation for exceptional service across Southern Africa. I have had the privilege of guiding clients through Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Zimbabwe’s cross cultural, and the rugged wilderness of Namibia’s Skeleton Coast e.t.c.

Each new destination has deepened my expertise in ecosystem dynamics, conservation initiatives, and cross cultural communication.  I am thrilled to bring this blend of heritage, hands on experience, and a relentless enthusiasm for wildlife with other Guides. My goal is to create unforgettable, authentic safari experiences that foster a lasting appreciation for Africa’s natural wonders and support the communities that protect them.
