Marcus Ndereki
My name is Marcus Ndereki. Born in Zimbabwe in the city of Kings and Queens called Bulawayo, a place of rich history and surrounded by popular heritage sites. I however did my primary and secondary school including my tertiary education in Kariba. I love dancing (though I’m bad at it), I love nature – taking photos and game rides, am a good listener, observant and keen to learn. I see myself as a team player. I possess a personality that enables me to interact respectfully across different cultures, race, creed and backgrounds. Most importantly I value the preservation of nature and its history.
I believe every plant and animal specie depends on the human species for its survival, this made me take on nature guiding professionally. Therefore I am taking baby steps towards informing the world about the beauty of its nature, through Sunway safaris.

The tour also would not have been the same without the guides, and I feel extremely lucky to have had Marcus and the team lead us. One of the main reasons I wanted to email was to give you a heads up about how truly fantastic Marcus was.
When we were heading to the lodge in Jo’burg we were discussing the possibilities of what the tour could be like and who our guides could be, our expectations were beaten one million percent. Marcus 100% made the trip as special as it was. He is one of the most engaging and fun tour guides you could ask for; he combined the seriousness of safety when camping in the wild with the fun you need on a long trip like this.
His knowledge of the animals and areas was honestly breathtaking. There was not a single question he could not answer. Each time we were in the car we could ask away and always got the answers (as an animal lover I loved this). I do not know how he retains this much information about the animals, but you can truly feel his passion and care for them. He also knew exactly how to act around the animals and knew the spots and behaviours when we were out on tour making me feel fully comfortable and safe with him around.
His cooking also deserves a mention. We were eating restaurant-quality food at every meal. Our initial expectation was that we would be eating pasta, bread, and camp-style food, this was the furthest thing from that. Each meal was different and so good that I actually came back heavier from eating so much! I do not know how he cooks like that in camp, it was absolute magic.
Marcus was also so kind and caring throughout the trip. Once it was done, he ensured we had our transfers and the rest of our journey organised so we did not get stuck. We are eternally grateful to have had the luck of getting Marcus to lead our trip, so thanks for aligning him to us – he definitely made it the trip of a lifetime! and we will be back to tour again with Sunway if we can get Marcus too. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves, as he truly was amazing. We have already been telling everyone about the trip and many have been saying they want to get on it.
The other guides we had for parts of the trip were also all fantastic: Coolque, Nghandi, and Waco were all flawless and exceptional company throughout. There was not a single person on the trip we thought was any less that gold standard – you have a great team.

SCENIC ROUTE SA18 ” Dear Sunway Safaris. We have just returned from this brilliant safari tour with Sunway in South Africa.This was our second Sunway safari and it did not disappoint. We filled in our feedback forms which hopefully has made its way back to you but I do feel I need to follow this up with an e mail to praise the professionalism care and attention given throughout by your two tour leaders Mayibongwe and Marcus under what was on occasions very difficult circumstances. There was only 4 of us on this trip. Myself and my husband and 2 Russian clients, father and a daughter. Unfortunately these other travelers did not make it easy for Mayibongwe and Marcus as they were rather awkward, selfish, and clearly seemed to be on the wrong type of trip. As they did not speak much English communication became rather a problem and they certainly tested the patience of all concerned caused by the continual interference and unhelpful approach they seemed to adopt. Please pass on our thanks to Mayibongwe and Marcus for making our holiday so enjoyable, they are both a credit to your organisation.”

TRADE ROUTE LM22 “Hello Sunway Safaris, We have just returned back to England after a fabulous 20+ days with Shandle and Marcus. Both were excellent tour guides but I just wanted to pay an individual tribute to Marcus. Throughout the tour, he worked so hard every day! His main focus after supporting Shandle was to make sure everyone was having a good time. He was fantastic with our two boys who both took to him really well and developed a good relationship with him as the time went on. He made a significant contribution to our enjoyment with his easy approach and great knowledge about the plants and animals we encountered.
If I’m honest, there were times that I found some of the other guests a little difficult. But he remained professional throughout and treated every one with equal importance. He is a real asset to your company. Please pass on our thanks to him! .”

” I travelled with this 2 lovely boys from 20 Oktober till 4 November. It was a very nice trip, good organised. Chanley and Marcus , were very prepared in their job. Wenn their was a problem with 1 of the guests, they were always prepared to find the good solution for him or her. Both boys helped me a lot, I was 1 of the oldest people (78 years). Chanley dedicated me a lot of his free time, to help me find jewelry and a lot of other things. He brought always my heavy luggage in my room. On the road he ,even as Marcus, could tell the name of the birds, threes, animals we saw. Marcus, just like Chanley, offers his free time when it was necessary, to help 1 of the group. He show me the Victoria falls, walking slowly. We made pictures, he dedicated me all his free time. He take always care of me when there was a street or way which was difficult to walk for me. Oh yes, he was there any moment. My English is not very good but I hope you understand, that you have 2 golden boss at your service. I thank sunway-safaris that I had a wonderful time. Greetings.”

We have been guided by Shenly and Markus and I can say that we could not have had better guides. They have been professional, caring, proactive, smart. They know a lot about the places that we have visited. They are great cookers and very well equipped and organized.
